Well over twenty interested athletes of all belt colors from Berlin and Brandenburg judo, karate and jujutsu clubs came to the course to get further training and enthusiasm for self-defense in the DJB’s graduation system with the regulations and implementation under professional guidance let.
Under the excellent leadership of the speaker for self-defense in the BJV, Stephan Grau, the methodology and the legal basis were presented in a very clear, real and plausible way for everyone in entertaining presentations in connection with historical and current situations. It was always about answering the question: “What exactly does realistic self-defense mean?!”
With a lot of attention and enthusiasm, everyone meticulously implemented what was taught in the practical parts until late in the afternoon. In the extensive daily program, examples of applications in the DJB’s new graduation system for 1st Kyu, 1st and 2nd Dan on the tatami were discussed and developed.
Starting from hand and step exercises as well as effective deflection, kicking and punching techniques, simple action parts were developed into effective sequences, e.g. B. linked to a hand lever; The aha effect was inevitable. Stephan Grau’s self-defense performances, presented with seriousness and at the same time hidden humor, were always very clearly presented and worth experiencing, so that everyone ultimately understood the inner logic of the techniques in connection with the seriousness of the situation.
“A big thank you also goes to the JSV Bernau for the good technical support and design as well as the extensive care for the physical well-being,” said Vice President Breitensport, Dirk Krüger, about the completely successful event.
With a lot of SV enthusiasm and practical feeling, everyone took something home with them to the clubs as inspiration. In the final discussion, everyone agreed that this should definitely be continued as a further basis for the necessary reactivation of self-defense in the clubs, especially for recruiting members. The next state self-defense course will be on September 27th. Carried out in Zernsdorf in 2025.
“I would also like to point out the top-class DJB kata course with DJB kata speaker Sebastian Frey on December 14th, 2024 in Strausberg on Nage no kata and Katame no kata. Our successful kata pair Zapf/Zapf will also be there. Advertising in the clubs for participation is expressly desired,” says Dirk Krüger, promoting this event.
