Football player Nick Bosa is fined for showing his support for Donald Trump. The NFL star should be able to cope with the payment.
As the host of the NBC television station was discussing her team’s win against the Dallas Cowboys with some players from the San Francisco 49ers, another football star suddenly crashed the interview. Nick Bosa snuck up from behind and presented his hat to the camera that read: “Make America Great Again.”
A week and a half before the election in the USA, the NFL star made his support for the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump clear. “I think it’s an important time,” said Bosa, explaining his statement. Trump clearly won the election and will soon be president of the United States again. His fan Bosa, however, has to pay a fine for the action. As some US media, including the sports broadcaster ESPN and CNN, report, the NFL has made the 27-year-old pay $11,255 (around 10,500 euros).
NFL player Nick Bosa is an ardent Trump supporter
Some Trump supporters are already suspecting censorship. But the punishment had nothing to do with candidate Trump – in fact, according to the official game regulations, political messages are generally prohibited in the NFL. Accordingly, players are not allowed to show any personal statements or brands that do not belong to the sponsors. This also applies expressly to the interviews after the match. This rule always causes discussions, for example in the Colin Kaepernick case. The quarterback knelt during the national anthem before the game to demonstrate against police violence. The NFL banned him from doing so.
Nick Bosa has long been considered an ardent Trump supporter and has never made a secret of it. He already supported Trump in the 2016 US election and has had to delete controversial tweets several times in the past. It must have been clear to the defensive end that he would not get away with his Trump advertising gesture.
However, the 49ers player shows no regrets. “It was worth it,” he commented on the fine. The people made it clear during the election that they agreed with him. Bosa can easily handle the sum of $11,255 anyway. He earns around $51 million a year, making him one of the highest-paid professionals in the NFL. If Bosa were punished again for such an offense, he would be fined more than $22,000.
