From Tessier to Tessier for the Griffons badminton team

For the first time since the 1980s, the Cégep de l’Outaouais Griffons badminton team has a new head coach. This change is unique in that the management of competitive training remains in the same family.

Samuel Tessier took the reins of the team, taking over from his uncle, Claude, who had led the destiny of the Griffons since 1986.

A change in continuity

If we are to believe Samuel Tessier, things will change for the players in the coming months, but slowly.

We try new methods, like match situations. But it’s especially important to stay competitive and improve every yearbelieves the new coach, who draws on his own experience as a former Griffon to lead his team.

I want my players to have an even better experience than I had. I want them to reach their full potential.

Because Claude Tessier offers a legacy of a program that has proven itself in recent years. He strengthened ties with civilian teams in addition to creating a sort of talent incubator.

We have set up a program where we offer courses on the size of the territory. For 15 years, we have always been in the top three at the provincial levelspecifies the veteran.

Players seem to appreciate this change in continuity. Claude has always been a great inspiration to us. He is the creator of the team, a model of life both on and off the fieldunderlines Captain Antonin Brunet, who specifies that the transition was very smooth.

We change coachbut we stay in the same family. Samuel is a very good replacement, and the training methods remain similar.

The Griffons will be able to continue to measure their progress and the impact of new management in the coming weeks. After dominating the first fall tournament, they will host the next collegiate competition of RSEQ November 24th.
