TV Dillingen is back on track

After the unsuccessful match day in Baden-Württemberg, TV Dillingen’s goal was to get back on the road to success in the Badminton Regional League Southeast. This was seen in the Swabian derby at home against SG Diedorf/Haunstetten also achieved with a 5:3 win.

Dillingen complete this time

For the first time in a long time, the Dillinger Badminton Cracks were able to manage without support from the second team. The game started promisingly: Johanna Reinhardt/Annika Oliwa kept their opponents in the women’s doubles at a distance throughout the match and won in two clear sets 21:11 and 21:15. The first men’s doubles with Florian Waffler/Florian Berchtenbreiter also made short work of it thanks to their confident and powerful game: 21:13, 21:11.

The second men’s doubles was more exciting. Markus Geisenhofer/Moritz Herkner had to go the full distance, but kept calm at the net in the important phases and won the third decisive set 21:17. With the comfortable 3-0 lead from the doubles, it was now a matter of scoring at least two more points in the singles games and the mixed doubles in order to win Dillingen to keep.

Florian Berchtenbreiter immediately took advantage of the next opportunity and brilliantly fought his way to a two-set win against his strong opponent in the first men’s singles. The mixed Annika Oliwa/Florian Waffler then won the decisive victory to give TV Dillingen a 5-0 lead. The goal was achieved.

Losing points no longer hurts Dillingen

The final individual games would only improve the result. However, both Moritz Herkner and Markus Geisenhofer were unable to build on their strong doubles performance after close sets and had to admit defeat in two close sets. Johanna Reinhardt went the full three-set distance in the women’s singles, but in the end she was not rewarded after a tough fight and lost in three sets.

All in all, it was still a very successful day for Dillinger, who were able to stay in the top half of the regional league table after this 5:3 win.
