Cleveland Browns NFL star Hakeem Adeniji shared a deeply moving photo on Instagram of him and his wife Kayla holding their dead son Semiu Zade Adeniji. The little boy was stillborn five days before his due date. Shortly beforehand, doctors could no longer detect a heartbeat in the infant. Another photo shows Hakeem leaning over his child’s body in tears. “That was the worst day of my life,” writes Hakeem on Instagram.
NFL star Hakeem Adeniji: “I wanted to be a dad so badly”
On November 11, Hakeem shared the tragic news with his fans on Instagram. “Almost a week ago we lost our little boy. There is anger, sadness and emptiness. The fact that he is gone and will never come back has hit home…” he writes. “I’ll never see him grow up. And he will never be able to read his diary that I wrote for him. I miss him and I will miss him every day of my life.” Hakeem emphasized how much he was looking forward to becoming a father: “It was the worst day of my life – everyone knew how much I wanted to be a dad.”
Touching words on Instagram: “I love my boy”
Hakeem goes on to describe that the situation is difficult for him, but that’s life. “It’s very difficult for me, but that’s life. We thank everyone who sends us prayers and strength. I still want to be a dad more than anything in the world. If I ever become a father again, I won’t take a day for granted. I love my boy and he will live on through us.”

The grieving mother Kayla also spoke up on Instagram. “We lost our son. We had to say goodbye to the most beautiful creature on earth. We will never be the same and we will never forget him. He had a head of curls and his father’s nose, the most delicate cheeks and large hands. He will forever be my son – and I will forever be his mom.”
Semiu Zade Adeniji was born on November 2nd, five days before her due date. Kayla concluded her post by saying, “When I held him for the first time I couldn’t believe how amazing he was. I had dreamed of seeing his face for so long. It looked like he was sleeping in my arms – he looked so peaceful.”
