Today sees the release of the first route add-on for Train Sim World 5 in the form of the MBTA commuter line between downtown Boston and Worcester, Massachusetts. Departing from Boston South Station is the shiny new HSP46 diesel locomotive, equipped with efficient start-stop engine modes, an elegant body design and modern control cabins.
Players can take advantage of some of Train Sim World 5’s new features, such as Conductor Mode (or Guard Mode), which involves checking tickets and managing door controls. For the MBTA commuter line, this occurs in both the new double-deck commuter cars and the single-deck cars carried over from a previous route.
Rail enthusiasts who already have the Boston – Providence route add-on in their collection can also switch between both Boston routes “Route hopping“ and enjoy a seamless gaming experience between the two New England experiences.
Authentic landscapes and train stations characterize the route, including the oldest baseball stadium in the USA at Fenway Park near Lansdowne Station. This baseball theme continues with collectibles and special services that transport fans to and from a baseball game. Players with other USA routes from the Train Sim World Compatible Collection can also drive CSX freight trains between Framingham and Worcester.
The MBTA Commuter Line is just the first in a series of DLCs coming to Train Sim World 5. These include 1980s northwest England, suburbs in Wales, rural Japan and the Netherlands, all announced in the extensive roadmap.
Train Sim World 5: MBTA Commuter: Boston – Framingham/Worcester Line-Strecken-Add-on is now available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, the Epic Games Store and Steam for 35.99 euros.
