The Para badminton tournament will be held for the third time on November 16. The tournament is organized by AB Salland (adapted badminton Salland) and will be held in the <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2023/11/ab-salland-organizes-second-para-badminton-tournament-in-raalte/" title="AB Salland Organizes Second Para-Badminton Tournament in Raalte“>Tijenraan sports center in Raalte. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome to come and watch.
During the tournament, the top of Dutch Para badminton come together to test their strengths in a day full of sporting highlights.
Para-badminton
AB Salland is organizing the Para badminton tournament for the third time. Para-badminton tournaments have already been held throughout the Netherlands. There was no such tournament in the East of the Netherlands, which is why AB Salland founded this tournament. “It was organized for the first time two years ago with great success and we are doing this for the third time,” says Bert Bourgonje, chairman of AB Salland.
50 registrations
Top players throughout the Netherlands come to Raalte for this tournament. “There are dozens of associations in the Netherlands. They are all invited to come to Raalte. What I saw now with the registrations, there are already almost 50 registrations and we still have a while to go,” says Bert.
The tournament
During the para-badminton tournament, the top players in the Netherlands will compete in singles and doubles. The singles starts at 10:00 am, the doubles will be played in the afternoon, after which the finals will also be played. Clinics are also held where people with physical or mental disabilities can play badminton with AB Salland trainers.
Different classes
During the tournament they have different classes, you have the top players from the Netherlands who play against each other and the recreational players who play matches against each other. The people in wheelchairs will also compete. The purpose of this tournament is to have fun. “Having fun is the most important thing about sport,” says the chairman of AB Salland.
