The Bocc (Concarnois Olympic Badminton club) did not benefit from the effect of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. However, its numbers remain stable with 140 licensees who practice leisurely or competitively. The Saturday morning slots are mainly devoted to young people. More and more of them are finding themselves on the floor of the Porzou Sports Hall. If Guillaume Touchard supervises the free play badists or beginners, Alban le Cam, involved for several years on the competition circuit, coaches the elite group. “I found almost the same players as last season,” he notes. “They are motivated. Most are fighting on all sides. It’s nice to see them so engaged.”
Objective pleasure in the competition
Within the local club, however, the objective remains to enjoy playing and hitting the shuttlecock. While progressing and performing. The most motivated competitors are directed to training sessions organized by the departmental committee, Codep 29, at the Lycée Saint-Joseph gymnasium, in Concarneau. They usually train several times a week.
Thomas Le Huludut and Baptiste Prima are among those who do not save themselves. “Baptiste trains, for example, six times a week,” underlines Alban, volunteer coach and Staps graduate. “He participates in many tournaments and wins a few.”
Bocc will organize a youth tournament open to all clubs in the region, Saturday November 23, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Halle du Porzou.
