In 2021, Major League Baseball put the Teodoro Mariscal Stadium in everyone’s eyes. With his millions of followers, The Major Leagues chose the Venados de Mazatlán stadium on their social networks as one of the most beautiful in the world for its design, but above all, for its landscapes and its tradition.
In its 62 years of history, the property has had four renovations and in that time it has experienced nine league championships, 17 finals, six editions of the Caribbean Series and two coronations of this international tournament.
“It is a beautiful stadium, three minutes away is the sea. They did us the honor of being one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world, for me it is the most beautiful. The stadium has a great atmosphere, it is a characteristic of us Mazatlans, that makes a difference from one stadium to another. Mazatlán cannot be seen without Teodoro Mariscal and without the club,” says Ismael Barros, executive president of Venados, and who also graduated in Public Accounting from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, in the 1982-1986 generation.
But the Group’s bet is big. Over the years, the owners and directors have taken on the task of betting on sports in one of the cities with the greatest tourism in Mexico, going not only for baseball in the Mexican Pacific League, where they already They are positioned as one of the clubs with the greatest tradition, and where they also want to go with basketball, athletics and even cycling.
“We are already a multi-sports entity. Not only do we have baseball, we also have the Pacific Marathon which is international, we have had 16 thousand runners, that puts us among the 10 best marathons in the world, but we also have a basketball team in the Pacific Coast Basketball Circuit, which It has given us many pleasures, it is professional, it is very similar to the baseball team because it is a tournament in the same cities, just as there is pique in baseball and also in basketball. We have a very important team, which people have been finding out about little by little: the cycling team, we have it throughout the Mexican Republic organizing tournaments, we are selecting cyclists because they have the commitment of the most outstanding to compete in Europe.” .
Although they have had a difficult start to the current LMP season, the manager knows that the team will have to live up to expectations, because in addition to the demands of its fans, there is also that of the owner.
“That’s the mentality, Antonio Toledo, that’s what he is: he wants to always be at the highest level, with professionalism, stand out or be in the fight. Grupo Venados has become a protagonist in sport and we must demonstrate that.”
What is the objective for this Stadium?
The next objective for, perhaps, the stadium with the best postcard, is to grow the stands again, which currently has capacity for 16 thousand people.
“I see it more broadly, we definitely cannot leave here, it is a privileged place, it is also in the center of the city, and in the United States that is how it is, the properties have returned to the center of the city. In 2000 it had a capacity of 8 thousand, then it grew to 11 thousand and in the last one we grew to 16 thousand, but always thinking that it can grow, it is enabled to make more seats, surely in the next remodeling that is where I see more fans.
