ATP Finals: winner of Fritz, Sinner takes a big option for the semi-finals

Jostled by the American Taylor Fritz (5th), the Italian Jannik Sinner was able to tighten up the game at the right time to achieve a second victory (6-4, 6-4) in the Nastase group during the ATP Masters, this Tuesday at Turin. The world number one was patient in both sets, hitting at the right time at the end of each set by taking his opponent’s serve in the 10th game. Despite his flawless performance since the start of the event, the player 23 years old, will have to wait until Thursday and his match against the Russian Daniil Medvedev, 4th in the world, to find out if he will compete in the semi-finals.

With a victory each, Fritz and Medvedev, earlier winner over Australian Alex de Minaur (9th) 6-2, 6-4, can still reach the last four. If he decisively beats Sinner in straight sets, Medvedev can even deprive the Italian, winner of seven titles this year, including the Australian Open and the US Open, from the semi-finals. De Minaur, who is discovering the ATP Masters, has on the other hand lost all hope of reaching the semi-finals. Jannik Sinner will therefore only need to win one set to reach the last four. This Wednesday, the Spaniard Alcaraz, surprised on Monday by Ruud, will face the Russian Rublev while the German Zverev, winner at the Rolex Paris Masters 10 days ago, will challenge the Norwegian Ruud on behalf of the Newcombe group.
