The tour to southern Hesse ended with no points for the TV Volkmarsen badminton team.
In the middle of the Oberliga, TV Volkmarsen suffered two clear 1:7 defeats in Schwanheim and Darmstadt. The defeat was particularly bitter after four hours of play in Darmstadt, in which the Kugelsburgstädter lost four games in the deciding set. “We missed out on making a statement in the relegation battle with our performance and now have to pull the coals out of the fire in the upcoming second half of the season. However, we have to note that we currently don’t have the class to turn the games around,” said team captain Felix Drude-Kampczyk.
The game in Schwanheim started well, but the individuals could not confirm the initial euphoria. Without Christian Krafft, Sebastian Becker and Marcel Krafft showed a good performance against Klitsch/Schultheis in the first men’s doubles and won 21:18 and 21:16. Katharina Kampczyk and Lina Riebeling didn’t have a good day in the women’s doubles against Metz/Bötsch, they lost in two sets. The youngsters Jannis Lambion and Julian Rose, who were used as a tactical variant in the 2nd men’s doubles, sold themselves dearly and were unable to prevent the clear two-set defeat.
The Volkmars team also tries everything in terms of personnel
Sebastian Becker narrowly missed out on victory in the second men’s singles and Katharina Kampczyk in the women’s singles. Both lost in the third set. Marcel Krafft lost to Hühne 16:21 and 18:21. Felix Drude-Kampczyk also lacked confidence in the third men’s singles, losing to Krämer 20:22 and 17:21. In the mixed doubles the worm was in, Lina Riebeling lost clearly in two sets alongside Felix Drude-Kampczyk with the final score being 1:7.
In Darmstadt, the Kugelsburgstadt team wanted to surprise with another tactical variant. Experienced Carsten Tegethoff supported the North Hesse team. However, this variant fizzled out after the first men’s doubles and women’s doubles. Marcel Krafft and Felix Drude-Kampczyk lost to the experienced duo Janz/Thorand with 11:21 and 19:21. Katharina Kampczyk and Lina Riebeling won the set in the women’s doubles in the first round, but ultimately lost by a clear score of 21:23 and 9:21. Sebastian Becker and Carsten Tegethoff needed a set to find each other; they unfortunately had to admit defeat to Weinzinger/Hässler with 20:22, 24:22 and 18:21.
Things didn’t go well for Marcel Krafft and Felix Drude-Kampczyk in the individual races. While Krafft lost to Janz 21:16, 12:21 and 17:21 in the first men’s singles, Drude-Kampczyk suffered an 18:21 and 7:21 defeat against Hässler.
Sebastian Becker fought bravely against Thorand in the 2nd men’s singles, but in the end had to accept the defeat of 21:16, 18:21 and 15:21. Katharina Kampczyk did better in the women’s singles against Gelhausen. She had the better shots and won 21:15, 13:21 and 21:13. The final point was the mixed Lina Riebeling with Carsten Tegethoff. Despite a good performance, the duo lacked composure, resulting in a close 10:21, 25:23 and 14:21.
The league team continues in January with the start of the second half of the season against BC Kassel.(red)
