The two young athletes of Shiai Piacenza they are making waves in the world of judo and wrestling, thanks to a combination of talent and sacrifice, which has led them to achieve important goals.
Last night at Sport zone the Sassi brothers were the protagonists, recounting the difficulties they had to face and the successes they managed to achieve after a particularly complicated period due to injuries. Asia, in particular, has shone recently at Federal Grand Prix from the Lucania Juniorwinning a silver medal which marked his return to competition after a period of forced stoppage. “I decided to do this competition to recover in view of the Italian Cup and I’m happy because the return was positive after a really difficult year” said Asia, who doesn’t stop there: in addition to judo, in fact, the young athlete has conquered also a bronze in freestyle wrestling in Italian Cup. “A discipline that I have only been practicing since January, but now I have to fully resume judo competitions to aim for the next world championships” he concluded.
Thomas is also experiencing a season full of satisfactions. After conquering a bronze at the Cadet World Championships in Peruthe young athlete is preparing for the Italian Cupwith an eye already turned towards more ambitious goals after participating in the Rome Open. “A pre-Olympic competition where I was able to compete with world judo champions. For now I have managed to qualify for the World and European Championships despite having to change category, but I won’t deny that my dream is the Olympics” he declared.
Assigeco Basket and the change of pace
In addition to judo, there is also basketball in the second part of Zona Sport, with the second coach of Assigeco Piacenza Luca Ogliari and the vice captain Niccolo Filoni. This evening the red and white are preparing to face an important challenge against Cividale by aiming for an external blitz: “Manzo is demanding a lot of energy from everyone – Ogliari’s analysis on the change of bench – we needed someone who could make the boys understand the potential they have. As far as I’m concerned, I didn’t think I’d make such a leap in quality in such a short time and become deputy of an A2 team, I owe it to Salieri and Manzo himself who taught me so much.”
Not just Ogliari: vice captain Niccolò Filoni, known for his determination, is also ready to get involved. “It’s the characteristic that has accompanied me since I was little, I put it at the service of a group that in my opinion has the potential to climb the rankings” he concluded.
Artistic gymnastics: THE young promises of PIACENTINE
Finally, another team sport from Piacenza in the third and final part dedicated to artistic gymnasticsa discipline represented by the athletes of Acrobatic Fitness. The team of Series A1led by the coach Elaine Sanchezis ready to take the field for a season that promises to be full of surprises.
Sanchez prefers not to say too much, but her team certainly has potential to exploit. “We are finishing the individual competitions and then we will form the new team, but we have talented young people,” he said. Among these young promises there are also three gymnasts from Piacenza, including Linda Ricchettione of the “veterans” of the group. “I have been part of the group since it was in Serie C. I too am preparing for the individual competitions, specifically in vault and parallel bars and I will do my best to do well”. Ricchetti explained, determined to continue her career by giving the best of herself.
