In January of that year everything still looked very amicable between the two European League of Football (ELF) and the American Football Association of Germany (AFVD). At that time, the two parties to the dispute agreed on clear change modalities. Now it seems as if the relationship is not only strained, but has also reached the end of a joint approach. The ELF unilaterally terminated this “exchange agreement” with AFVD.
AFVD and ELF agree on transfer regulations
Those responsible for the European League of Football have terminated the agreement concluded with the AFVD at the beginning of the year regarding the transfer of players from the GFL to the ELF with immediate effect.
Commissioner came to this decision Patrick Esume after a meeting with AFVD President Fuad Merdanovic on Tuesday evening, according to a broadcast from the ELF.
“It has been shown that this agreement only benefits one side – namely the AFVD. We have repeatedly sought contact over the last few months and have been open to discussions in order to further develop and advance our sport together. But nothing came back, every suggestion, every impulse on our part was rejected and blocked. You can’t work together like that. But that’s not all, the association has repeatedly parted ways with coaches because they switched to ELF teams.”so ELF Commissioner Patrick Esume.
The AFVD has not yet officially commented on this.
The fact is now: There will no longer be a transfer agreement between the two (ELF and AFVD) in the coming season. This means that players from clubs in the GFL can switch to ELF teams at any time without having to fear a transfer ban. The decision rests solely with the players.
According to their statement, those responsible for the ELF are pursuing “the decision of the AFVD regarding Shuan Fatah with great interest. The head coach of the German national football team announced in mid-September that he would train the ELF team Hamburg Sea Devils in the coming season. There he will again work side by side with the offensive coordinator Lee Rowland work, who the AFVD was no longer able to keep after his move to Berlin Thunder last summer, as well as with Nadine Nurasyidwho moved to Stuttgart Surge.„
It is unacceptable for the association to part with well-trained trainers just because they decide to work in the ELF. “A large part of the German national team squad consists of ELF players and if so Lee Rowland and Nadine Nurasyid now too Shuan Fatah If he has to pack his bags, there will be resistance from the players. They have already stood up for their head coach and made it clear to the association that they want to keep their head coach.”continues Esume.
So it’s about the German association, from the ELF’s point of view, terminating the jobs of its coaches in their national teams because they also work in the ELF.
The last team boss in Austria Max Sommer gave up his role as offensive coordinator for the ELF franchise of the Vienna Vikings. A discrepancy in the connection between the two tasks was never an issue, at least officially. Sommer gave up the job for personal reasons and there is no indication from either Sommer or the Vienna Vikings that the AFBÖ pushed for this.
