The Panamanian Football Federation reports that the players Abdiel Ayarza e Ismael Diaz They will be out due to injury for the matches against Costa Rica for the quarterfinals of the 2024/2025 CONCACAF Nations League.
The medical department of the Panamanian Football Federation (FPF) reported that Ayarza presented an injury to the external meniscus and reactive synovitis, which will require surgery.
Ayarza had discomfort in his right knee after training this Saturday at the Virgilio Tejeira Andrión Stadium, in Penonomé.
The player was transferred this Monday morning to Panama City, where an MRI was performed that confirmed the player’s absence.
In the case of Díaz, the forward suffered a blow to the hip in the left zone with his club, Universidad Católica, in the match last Saturday, November 11, against Aucas, on matchday 13 of Ecuador’s first division.
The blow forced Díaz to be substituted in the final part of the match.
Díaz contacted the FPF medical department after the match, complaining of severe pain due to the blow to the iliac crest, a situation that left him out of the FIFA matches on this date with the National Team.
Regarding the replacements, the coaching staff, led by coach Thomas Christiansen, decided to call the forward Tomas Rodriguezfrom Monagas SC, from Venezuelan soccer.
The FPF has already received the approval of his club and Rodríguez is expected to join the concentration in Penonomé tomorrow, Tuesday night.
In the case of Ayarza, at the moment it has not been decided to call another player and the coaching staff will remain with the 24 players called up to face Costa Rica.
