[서울=뉴시스]Reporter Eunsoo Choi = The number of global users of Netflix’s advertising-based plan launched in 2022 has exceeded 70 million.
According to key achievements marking the 2nd anniversary of the launch of the advertising plan released by Netflix on the 13th, the number of monthly active users (MAU) of Netflix’s advertising plan around the world reaches 70 million.
Additionally, in countries where the plan is in operation, more than 50% of new subscribers chose the advertising plan.
Previously, Netflix first introduced an advertising-based rate plan in November 2022. Instead of showing 15- or 30-second advertisements, users pay a relatively low subscription fee. In Korea, it is set at 5,500 won, which is 4,000 won cheaper than the existing basic plan (9,500 won).
In addition, Netflix has entered into various partnerships in 12 countries where it operates advertising-based plans ahead of the release of Squid Game Season 2 on December 26. To mark the launch of Kia’s first crossover SUV ‘New Sportage’, Netflix signed a single title sponsorship with Kia and produced a three-part customized advertisement. A pop-up event will also be held at Kia Unplugged Ground, Kia Motors’ cultural complex located in Seongsu-dong, Seoul.
For live events such as NFL Christmas Day games, partnerships have been signed with ‘FanDuel’ and ‘Verizon’.
“Over the past two years, Netflix has entered into several successful partnerships and achieved meaningful results across product, technology and measurement capabilities,” said Amy Reinhard, president of Netflix Advertising. “This is just the beginning, and the future holds great promise for Netflix.” “There will be great expectations,” he said.
Netflix plans to expand its advertising technology operations globally by 2025
Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange on this day, Netflix’s stock price rose 1.75% from the previous day to $819.50. Based on the closing price, this is the highest ever since Netflix was listed in 2002.
