The centralized regional final of the Quebec Games will take place in Témiscamingue

The 40th centralized regional final of the Quebec Games will be held from January 31 to February 2, 2025, mainly in Témiscamingue.

The organizers and partners of this Final gathered on Tuesday in Ville-Marie to present the program.

14 sports disciplines will be presented, including 10 in official competition, namely figure skating, men’s and women’s curling, karate, badminton, cross-country skiing, weightlifting, judo, table tennis and alpine skiing. . Four disciplines will be demonstrated, namely mini-hockey, mini-basketball, mini-volleyball and futsal.

The alpine skiing and gymnastics competitions will be held in Rouyn-Noranda, for reasons of sports equipment.

For the rest, the competitions will take place in different cities in Témiscamingue, mainly in Lorrainville, Ville-Marie, Notre-Dame-du-Nord and the city of Témiscaming.

For this 40th edition, between 700 and 1000 young athletes are expected.

Most of the time, these are young people from sixth grade to secondary five.recalls Benoît Gauthier, president of the executive committee for the 40th Centralized Final of the Quebec Games in Témiscamingue.

More than 200 volunteers will also be present to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Benoît Gauthier invites the population to come and watch the sporting events.

There is going to be a weightlifting competition in Notre-Dame-du-Nord. And in Témiscamingue, we don’t have a weightlifting club. So it can allow young people to see this sport for the first time and become motivatedbelieves Benoît Gauthier.

The discovery of these sports has already pushed young people to practice them.

We also have mini basketball, last year there was a team that was formed and entered the RSEQ network at the secondary level, says Benoît Gauthier. Sometimes, it’s sports training like this that allows a young person to grow or develop a passion. So, yes, it’s open to everyone and we invite the population to go there, that’s for sure.
