On Wednesday night, Major League Baseball announced the details of the qualifying tournaments for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Germany will meet China (March 2, 2025, 7 p.m.), Brazil (March 3, 2025, 7 p.m.) and Colombia (March 5, 2025, 2 a.m.) in Tucson, Arizona (USA). The first place finisher at the end of the preliminary round will immediately secure a starting place in the main tournament. The second participant will be determined in a playoff between the second and third place on March 7, 2025 at 2 a.m.

South Africa, Nicaragua, Spain and Chinese Tapei will meet in another qualifying tournament from February 21 to 25, 2025 in Taiwan.
The main tournament starts on March 5, 2026 with the preliminary round in San Juan, Houston, Tokjo and Miami. The quarterfinals will take place in Houston and Miami on March 14, 2026, followed by the semifinals on March 15-16. March 2026 and the final on March 17, 2026 in Miami.
The World Baseball Classic has been held since 2006. It has been the official world championship since 2013. Germany took part in qualifying tournaments in 2012 (Regensburg), 2016 (Mexico) and 2022 (Regensburg), but has not yet qualified for the main tournament.
