江苏省常驻人口8000多万，人口密度全国最高。据不完全统计，江苏省高层建筑有6.4万栋，易燃易爆危险化工企业约有3万家。这种情况给江苏省的消防工作构成了很大的挑战。
周详说，针对这种情况，江苏省围绕“确保火灾形势稳定、形成江苏治理经验”两大整治目标，部署开展消防安全专项整治“百日攻坚行动”，实行每日一研判、每周一调度，聚焦重点目标任务、集中攻坚整治突出问题，总队抽调6名骨干成立工作专班，开设专项整治专栏，编发26期工作动态；每月“派单式”下发各地专项整治工作任务，“对单式”开展实地考评，“表格式”晾晒月度考评成绩。同时，组织10支人才技术服务队送技术到一线，并将消防安全整治纳入常设督察队工作重点，落实常态化明察暗访、督导巡查、指令下达。
“火灾总量自2015年以来实现
‘6年6连降’，连续20年未发生重特大亡人火灾事故，全省消防安全环境得到持续改善，”周详说，针对亡人火灾暴露出的问题，我们紧紧盯住电动自行车、消防车通道、群租房等突出风险，强化源头管控工作。
据了解，自2019年11月以来，江苏省消防救援部门累计检查单位25.9万家次，发现消防隐患37.3万处、督促整改36.6万处，整改销案重大火灾隐患254家、区域性火灾隐患整改39处；提请省政府挂牌督办26家重大火灾隐患。与此同时，在预防方面，江苏省消防全力做好重大节日和重大活动消防安保工作，提前介入大型活动，督促落实火灾防范措施，视情派驻安保团队；落实“陈兵一线”措施，平均每次设置陈兵点277个，出动执勤车322台、指战员1477人，在大型活动场所、高速
