La Major League Baseball (MLB) announced the Silver Slugger winners for the 2024 season, and the Latin community stood out with 12 award-winning players, six in each league.
This award recognizes the best offensive players in each position, highlighting the Latin talent that shone throughout the year at the plate.
In catching, Latinos took the prize in both leagues.
In the American League, Salvador Pérez, the veteran of the Kansas City Royals, added his fifth Silver Slugger to his illustrious career.
In the National League, William Contreras of the Milwaukee Brewers won his second consecutive award, reaffirming his growth as one of the best offensive catchers in his league.
Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr., first baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays, won his second Silver Slugger in the American League.
Guerrero stood out as a powerful and consistent hitter, adding another important achievement in his young career. At second base, Latin talent also dominated.
In the National League, Ketel Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks was crowned the best offensive second baseman, while José Altuve, second baseman of the Houston Astros, took the award in the American League for the seventh time, further cementing his legacy as one of the best of his generation.
At third base, Manny Machado of the San Diego Padres was recognized in the National League, taking his second Silver Slugger.
In the American League, José Ramírez of the Cleveland Guardians received his fifth award, being an offensive pillar for his team and reaffirming his position as one of the most complete hitters.
Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor, shortstop for the New York Mets, won his fourth Silver Slugger, the second with his current team. His consistency at the plate was essential for the Mets throughout the season, demonstrating his ability to excel on both defense and offense.
The gardens also saw a strong Latin impact, with four winners.
In the American League, Juan Soto of the Padres and Anthony Santander of the Orioles were awarded, achieving the fifth and first Silver Sluggers of their careers, respectively.
In the National League, Teoscar Hernández and Jurickson Profar also won the award, the third for Hernández and the first for Profar.
