BarcelonaThe machinery to choose the next Spanish representative for Eurovision has already started and RTVE has already announced the 16 candidates who are presented at the Benidorm Fest, the festival through which the song that will compete in the contest is chosen musical and that this year will be celebrated on February 1. Since this event began, RTVE has always expressed its intention to have established artists participate, but this year the name that stands out the most is that of Sonia y Selena, a duo known mainly for a single hit, I want to dancea song popularized in the summer of 2001. The song is part of the duo’s only album, which has the same title as the song that made them famous.

Sonia Madoc, from Barcelona, and Selena Leo, from Castelló, have returned to the stage to perform at the Benidorm Fest. They will compete in the festival with the song Queensa song they say made them cry because it is “very emotional” and very representative of them. “We have come together again to reconnect with each other and for the love of the public, who asked for it so much. We are doing it at Benidorm Fest, such a beautiful festival, because now is the ideal time. We are in a more uninhibited stage, we are laughing a lot”, said the singers.
The group already advanced the possibility of a return with a recent visit to The revoltthe program of David Broncano. There, the couple took the opportunity to sing their big hit with the collaboration of Broncano and comedian Lalachus, who did not hesitate to reproduce the choreography associated with the song.
Apart from Sonia and Selena, another well-known name in this year’s selection is Melody, who started her career as a child singer and became famous thanks to the song The gorilla dance. He participated in the third edition of Your face sounds familiar to mein which she was runner-up. The Sevillian, who is 34 years old, will participate in the Benidorm Fest with the theme that divaa song that, according to her, “has a very deep message because we are all divas in some way.”
Benidorm Fest will be held in February, but the songs competing will be announced on December 18. According to RTVE, the proceeds from the festival’s tickets will go to those affected by DANA in Valencia. Unlike the other editions, the 2025 Benidorm Fest does not seem to have to have any songs in Catalan, because all the titles of the songs presented are in Spanish.
