Nach dem Wochenende in München blicken Football-Fans bereits gespannt auf die Zukunft der NFL in Deutschland. Bislang wurden bereits in Frankfurt und München Spiele ausgetragen. Seit kurzem hat sich mit Berlin eine weitere Stadt ins Spiel gebracht. Damit könnten Patrick Mahomes und Co. zukünftig auch in Berlin zu sehen.

Berlin Senate paves the way for the NFL in Berlin
Germany’s capital could become the venue for NFL games between 2025 and 2029. At least the Berlin Senate has now cleared the way for this.
A corresponding proposal from Sports and Interior Senator Spranger (SPD) has been approved for this purpose. Berlin wants to invest up to 12.5 million euros and make the Olympic Stadium the new NFL home in Germany. “This is a touchdown for the state of Berlin,” cheered Sports Senator Spranger on Tuesday. “The Senate has decided, based on my House’s submission, that the sports metropolis of Berlin will apply to host NFL games in the long term.”
NFL Commissioner Goodell fueled rumors about an NFL game in Berlin
On the sidelines of the NFL Munich Game between the Carolina Panthers and the New York Giants, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had already fueled the rumor mill before the Senate decision. “Normally I don’t believe in rumors.” In this case, however, things are different.
When asked specifically about an NFL game in Berlin, the NFL boss replied: “We are working on it. It has not been finalized.” Even if a final decision from the NFL is still pending, the signs are looking pretty good when it comes to an NFL game in Berlin. The NFL stopped in Germany for the first time in Munich in 2022. Last year two games were played in Frankfurt and in November this year another game was played in Munich’s Allianz Arena.
