Any hope for a quicker healing was in vain. The already struggling Dallas Cowboys will be without Dak Prescott for the rest of the season. This was announced by owner Jerry Jones, who also spoke about the operation on the thigh.

No more Dak Prescott this season! The Dallas Cowboys quarterback’s hamstring injury requires surgery and therefore makes a comeback impossible in the coming weeks.
Club owner Jerry Jones revealed this in an interview with the radio station “105.3 The Fan”. Prescott, who extended his contract by four years for $240 million just a few weeks ago, will undergo surgery in New York on Wednesday.
“ESPN” had previously reported that the 31-year-old was planning an operation on his partially torn thigh muscles – subject to the opinion of another specialist. Now Jones said: “His prognosis is wonderful. It just means we won’t have him available for the rest of the season.”
The Cowboys are said to have felt from the start that it was better to treat the injury now rather than let it heal on its own and develop complications later. However, Jones previously said in a radio interview that Prescott actually wanted to avoid surgery.
Prescott was still confident after the Falcons game
The playmaker suffered the thigh injury in question in the 21:27 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9, and he also suffers from a hand injury. By then, the playmaker had completed 18 of his 24 pass attempts for 133 yards and a touchdown. Backup Cooper Rush was then brought into play for the veteran.
After the game, Prescott himself was still confident that he could be back on the field the following NFL week. But in the 6:34 loss against division rivals Philadelphia Eagles he was doomed to watch.
The Cowboys are in a difficult sporting situation, after four defeats in a row they have a disappointing 3-6 record and can almost bury their hopes of the playoffs.
Prescott will miss about half the season for the second time in five years after breaking his ankle in Week 5 in 2020. He finished the current season with eight appearances and 1,978 passing yards for eleven touchdowns with eight interceptions and 54 rushing yards for one touchdown.
