Badminton: Hessian young elite play in Dillenburg

Hessian young elite is playing in Dillenburg

The third youth Hessen ranking tournament of the year will take place in Dillenburg next weekend. After TV 1843 Dillenburg hosted the youth and adult district championships in September, this time it continues at a national level. The Hessian young elite from age groups U9 up to U19 meet to collect valuable points for the German rankings.

It starts on Saturday (November 16th, 2024) at 9:00 a.m. when the first shuttlecocks will fly in Dillenburg’s Nassau-Oranien-Halle. The first day of the tournament is primarily dedicated to doubles, which are played from the U13 age group up to the U19 in both pure doubles and mixed – called mixed. Only U9 and U11 are then required to compete in singles, before this discipline is played by all the “biggers”, especially on Sundays, and only the U11s are allowed to “double”.

There are reports from around 250 players, which promises a full hall and many registered leagues. Since the Hesse ranking tournament is a C tournament according to the youth competition system, it is also open to other state associations outside of Hesse. For example, starters from North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg and Thuringia are also on the starter list. As host, TV 1843 Dillenburg will send around a dozen players into the race.

Participation is decided not least by the ranking points collected so far in the German rankings if the leagues have been over-registered. The five best tournament results from the last twelve months count, and the entries with the most points are in the main field.
