Gregg Popovich was at Frost Bank Center, the Spurs’ home, at the time of his accident, on the eve of a regular season game. “Popovich, who has already begun a rehabilitation program, is expected to make a full recovery,” the Spurs statement said. “At this stage, the timetable for his return to the bench has not yet been set.”
The most experienced coach in the league, Gregg Popovich won five NBA championship titles (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014) with the Spurs, including four with French leader Tony Parker. Assistant to Gregg Popovich, Mitch Johnson will therefore continue acting in his absence this season.
