The Indianapolis Colts are rowing back.
Just two weeks ago, head coach Shane Steichen decided to put Anthony Richardson, who was drafted fourth in 2023, on the bench instead of 39-year-old Joe Flacco – two defeats later, things are going in the other direction again.
As Steichen confirmed on Wednesday, Richardson will be the Colts’ starting quarterback again next Sunday against the New York Jets.
And that’s not all: Steichen has even guaranteed the 22-year-old a permanent starting place for the rest of the season.
No stable quarterback performances
The Indianapolis Colts currently have a record of 4-6. Before Richardson’s demotion, things looked a lot better at 4-4.
However, Flacco was never really able to build on the performances he showed during the season when he replaced the then injured Richardson. Instead, the veteran threw four interceptions in the past two games.
However, Richardson’s stats this season don’t look much better. In his six starts so far, he has thrown four touchdowns and seven interceptions.
