Support and Education Foundation for Basketball (BİDEV) opened the 10th basketball court within the scope of the ‘BİDEV Step for Basketball in Villages’ project at Şehit Ahmet Demir Secondary School in Adıyaman.
Basketball Support and Education Foundation (BİDEV), which was established with the aim of contributing to the training of qualified basketball players and supporting the sport of basketball in Turkey, opened its 10th basketball court in Adıyaman. Ahbap Association also took part as a strategic partner for the field built by BİDEV at Adıyaman Şehit Ahmet Demir Secondary School, with the contributions of BİDEV Founding Board of Trustees Member and Polimeks Holding Chairman Erol Tabanca.
The opening ceremony of the field; Arif Aytekin, BİDEV Board Member Responsible for the BİDEV Step for Basketball in Villages Project, and Haluk Levent, Chairman of the Ahbap Association, which is a strategic partner in the project, District Governor Tarık Buğra Seyhan, District Deputy Mayor Ahmet İşler, District Police Chief Talip Gönül, District Director of National Education Ali Şeyh Özdemir, District Gendarmerie Commander Mehmet Yaman, School Principals and BİDEV Board of Trustees Members, former national basketball player Tamer Oyguç, BİDEV Board Members Sema Kasapoğlu, Handan Özbek, BİDEV Projects Coordinator Turhan Koray, BİDEV Board of Trustees Members and also Project organizers Murat Toz, Serhat Toptancı and BİDEV Adım Project Regional Manager Emre Mahmut Şimşek attended.
In his speech at the opening, BİDEV Board Member Arif Aytekin said, “As BİDEV, since our establishment in 2020, we have been working to contribute to the physical and spiritual development of children and young people through sports and to facilitate social access to the basketball branch. With the ‘BİDEV Step for Basketball in Villages’ social responsibility project, we have been working to contribute to the physical and spiritual development of children and young people through sports. “We provide basketball courts to local schools, and today we are donating a basketball court to this school in Adıyaman.”
More than 7 thousand children have been reached in 9 provinces since 2022
Stating that they have reached more than 7 thousand children in 9 provinces since 2022 within the scope of the project, Aytekin said, “We aim for 400 students to benefit from our field at Adıyaman Şehit Ahmet Demir Secondary School. In addition to the fields, we provide training equipment and sports equipment support to school team athletes. We also provide physical education and basketball coaches in the regions. “We provide basic basketball, leadership and personal development training. We are in constant contact with our schools and instructors. We follow the needs, additional demands and successes of the school teams, if any,” he said.
“BIDEV serves a very valuable purpose”
Haluk Levent, Chairman of the Dude Association, said, “As an association, we rebuilt 19 schools that were destroyed after the February 6 earthquake, and thousands of students are currently continuing their education and training in these schools. We also want our schools under construction in Hatay to meet with students as soon as possible.” “We are working hard. Today, we are together in Adıyaman for the opening of BİDEV’s 10th basketball court. We thank BİDEV for serving a very valuable purpose,” he said.
