The Aragonese Federation of Judo and Associated Sports (FAJYDA) has announced the election of Cristina Berrocal Elu as its new president since last November 1, marking a significant milestone as she is the first woman to lead this institution.

At less than 30 years old, Cristina Berrocal Elu brings an outstanding career in the sports, academic and business fields. Computer Engineer and Designer and Developer of video games by training, she is a professor at the San Jorge University, where she teaches classes in the degrees of Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering and Bioinformatics Engineering. Its commitment to education and technological innovation has positioned it as a leader in its field.

In the sporting field, Cristina has been runner-up in Spain in the judo kata modality and a high-performance Aragonese athlete for several years, demonstrating her dedication and excellence in this sport. In addition, she has been part of the Judo Club Zaragoza coaching staff as a monitor for many years, currently she is 3rd Dan of Judo, she continues to contribute to the development and training of new talents in the discipline.

Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-found Oniria Studios, a company specialized in software development that, in its second year, achieved a turnover of more than half a million euros, reflecting her ability to lead innovative projects and her business vision.

Cristina has also played significant roles in sports management, being vice president and director of the executive area of ​​FAJYDA for 4 years, where she has demonstrated her commitment to the growth and promotion of judo in Aragon.

Currently a member of the board of directors of the Sports Managers of Aragon (GEDA), and as coordinator of the Innovation and Technology department of the Royal Spanish Federation of Judo and Associated Sports, managing the digitalization projects of the administration and sports management of the circuit of Spanish and European Cups.

With her appointment, Cristina Berrocal Elu becomes the third woman to preside over an autonomous federation of judo and associated sports in Spain, following in the footsteps of Neli Lorenzo in Madrid and Yamila Gómez in Castilla-La Mancha. Her leadership represents progress towards gender equality in sport and an inspiration for future generations of judokas.

The FAJYDA expresses its confidence that, under Cristina’s leadership, the federation will continue to promote the values ​​of judo and encourage the development of this sport in the Aragonese community.

“From the federation we want to work on the impact in the media, the repercussion of the results and the objectives achieved, which are not few, in order to attract more sponsorship and investment. From the families, the clubs and the federation, great work has been done for a long time in many aspects, environment, sports results and fans. Work is being done in the community to be the same and united, we are few, and we have to have the same objective, otherwise this will not work. Our sporting values ​​are the first thing, we have to be guided by them with the help of those who already have all the experience, we owe them everything.”
