PACHUCA DE SOTO, 13 NOV /NEWS HIDALGO/.- <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/04/hidalgo-will-be-headquarters-of-the-macro-regional-judo/" title="Hidalgo Will Be Headquarters of the Macro Regional Judo“>Emiliano Rubio Martínez, student at the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH), won the gold medal in judo during the Pan American University Games of the International University Sports Federation (FISU América), held in Cali, Colombia.
With this title, he consolidates himself as one of the strongest promises of this sport in the country, this being the first time that a Garza athlete represents Mexico at this stage of the international university games.
In a round robin format competition, the student Garza demonstrated spirit, strength and constant dedication when facing outstanding rivals, such as the Brazilian Lucas Santos Ríos and the Colombian Santiago Vásquez Arias, whom he defeated in all the fights, thus demonstrating his exemplary techniques. and his passion for combat sports.
Added to this achievement is a silver medal won this Wednesday in the team modality, together with athletes from the Universidad Veracruzana (UV), Anáhuac and Marista de Mérida. In this way, the Mexican team defeated Chile 4-1 and lost 3-2 against Brazil.
With these results, Emiliano Rubio, a third semester student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at the UAEH, is emerging as a candidate to represent Mexico in judo during the 2025 World University Games.
“I feel very good; It is something that had already been worked on with the University, my family and my coaches. I am doing this with commitment and responsibility, so I feel satisfaction in having met the objective,” said the athlete Garza.
In addition to representing a personal triumph for the winner, this achievement also exalts the highest educational institution in Hidalgo, which reaffirms its commitment to the growth and development of its students practicing different sports. The UAEH is proud of the persistence and determination that characterizes its students.
