Baseball: four Voltigeurs among the stars

BASEBALL. Four players from the Cégep de Drummondville baseball program are part of the Quebec Student Sports Network (RSEQ) all-star team at the end of the 2024 season.

For a second consecutive year, Marek Devost is the first baseman par excellence in the Quebec college circuit. The title of receiver par excellence was awarded to Dérick Toutant. Simon Roy is one of the three outfielders par excellence in the RSEQ.

For his part, William St-Pierre is one of the three excellent pitchers in the college network along with Loïc Maranda, of the Cégep de Limoilou Titans, and Olivier St-Amand, of the Boomerang of Cégep André-Laurendeau. In his fourth campaign in a Drummondville uniform, the 20-year-old right-hander was dominant, helping the team reach the final of the playoff tournament.

“Despite his small stature, he is quite intimidating,” said Voltigeurs head coach Samuel Guilbert in an interview with L’Express before the start of the season. He has some dog on the mound. He has good control and spin throws that you don’t see often.”

The members of the RSEQ all-star team were selected by the league’s seven coaches. The title of head coach of excellence was given to Dominik Walsh, who guided the Titans to a championship in their first season on the collegiate circuit. Finally, the Dawson College Blues received the sports ethics banner.
