driven by its success, the Blackminton extends over two evenings on November 15 and 16

Open to all upon registration, the big badminton tournament in the dark organized by the Bacchus badminton club of Issoudun is making a comeback on Friday November 15 and Saturday November 16 at the Issoudun Exhibition and Sports Center (Pepsi).

Organized for the first time over two evenings “to open the tournament to as many people as possible”Blackminton hopes to build on its success of previous years: “Last year it was full. We even had to reschedule teams. This is why we decided, for this sixth edition, to open on Friday and Saturday evenings”explains Pierre-Emmanuel Blanchet, treasurer of the club, who specifies: “It’s not a competition spread over two days. These are two separate tournaments with different participants. Prizes are awarded to the winners on Friday and Saturday. »

“Friday evening is already full”

An idea that seems rather good given the number of participants already registered: “Friday evening is already full. There will be 180 players on the evening. For Saturday, there is still room but there are already around fifteen teams registered”confides Guillaume Lamiot, president of the BBC.

However, if rewards are awarded to the first three teams in the tournaments, competition is not the desired objective: “It must remain a friendly and family moment. In our club, the DNA is to come and have fun playing, so Blackminton fits into that. The idea is that people have fun, come back and why not get a license. »

Mandatory parity

Plunged in the dark, the players, divided into teams of four or more people with a mandatory parity of two women and two men minimum, will compete on eleven fluorescent fields: “There will be neon lights, spots with black light which will reflect the strips of the pitches that we have painted in fluorescent. »

Participants are therefore prohibited from wearing black, recalls Pierre-Emmanuel Blanchet: “They must come with light-colored clothes. People who don’t have fluorescent can come in white, there’s no problem. Black light also reflects this color. »

Valuable disguises

Even better, the players but also the public are invited to come and dress up: “There is one thing that has been important from the beginning, and that is the prize for the best costume. It is awarded to the person who wears it while playing it. »

Those present at Pepsi during these two days will also be able to have their makeup done, have something to eat or even have a drink. Half of the Palace is designed to best accommodate “Blackmintonians”: “There will be a refreshment bar side, with tables and chairs, and a game side separated by a large curtaindetails Guillaume Lamiot. When there are 90 people playing, the other 90 will be on the refreshment side. »

Everything is planned so that the two evenings go as smoothly as possible.
