EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- The National Baseball Commissioner of the Dominican Republic, Junior Noboa, together with Judge Olga Diná Llaverías, head of the National Directorate of Boys, Girls, Adolescents and Families (Dinnaf), will open an investigation about the death of prospect Ismael Ureña Pérez.

Noboa reported this Thursday that together with the magistrate an exhaustive investigation will be carried out to investigate the causes that ended the life of the young man who was barely 14 years old.

The baseball commissioner contacted the lawyers of the deceased who resided in the municipality of San Luis, Santo Domingo Este, however he specified that everything will be done through the Public Ministry and Judge Olga Diná Llaverías.

“This investigation will be opened to gather all the data that ended this prospect’s dream. Our duty is to ensure the healthy practice of baseball and we will bring to justice those responsible for causing this unfortunate event,” said Noboa.

“There will be consequences, we will continue working, making all the necessary agreements, since we have the full support of our president Luis Abinader, who has instructed us to work for children, so that when there are such cases they will have consequences for those who are doping children and those who are falsifying documentation. We will pay special attention to all of this and work against this scourge,” he noted.

Noboa explained that along with this case, reports of physical and psychological abuse against children and adolescents at an academy in Boca Chica will also be followed up.

The deceased Ismael Ureña practiced with his two brothers at the Yordy Cabrera Baseball Academy.
