Record champions Bayern Munich are worried about midfielder Joao Palhinha: The 29-year-old suffered an adductor injury while playing for the Portuguese national team and is therefore out of the international matches in the Nations League against Poland on Friday and in Croatia on Monday. Palhinha will “return to Munich for further treatment,” FC Bayern said. The club left it open how long he would be missing.
For Bayern, the derby against FC Augsburg (November 22nd) is on the agenda after the international break. This is followed by the cracker in the Champions League against Paris St. Germain (November 26th) as well as the top games against Borussia Dortmund in the league (November 30th) and in the DFB Cup against Bayer Leverkusen (December 3rd).
Palhinha moved from FC Fulham to the German record champions for 50 million euros in the summer, but initially had to struggle with teething problems. It was only after Aleksandar Pavlovic’s shoulder injury that Sixer Palhinha moved into Munich’s starting lineup in the midfield alongside Joshua Kimmich. Pavlovic is no longer available after an operation this year. A longer absence from Palhinha would be correspondingly difficult.
