La Pampa advances in the Araucanía Binational Games and ensures presence in the semifinals

The sports teams of La Pampa stand out in the XXXI edition of the Araucanía Binational Games, which have been taking place in Chile since last Monday and will continue until Friday. The Pampas delegation has managed to qualify for the semifinals in the disciplines of soccer and volleyball in both branches, as well as in men’s basketball. In addition, he has added medals in athletics, swimming and judo.

In volleyball, the men’s and women’s teams established themselves as strong candidates for medals. In the women’s category, the Pampa team secured its place in the semifinals with a 3-1 victory over Los Lagos and, later, defeated Chubut with a resounding 3-0. Catalina Arrigone, outstanding player of the team and experienced participant in the Games of Araucanía, expressed his satisfaction for representing La Pampa and pointed out the importance of having beaten the Río Negro team, current champion, in the first match. La Pampa leads Group B with 10 points and will face Los Ríos this Thursday.

In men’s volleyball, La Pampa also showed dominance, beating Araucanía 3 to 0 in a match that lasted one hour. The Pampas team heads Group B and will face Magallanes this Thursday.

The Pampas delegation also celebrated individual achievements in athletics and judo. In athletics, Juan Salvador Olivero Gómez took the silver medal in the discus throw. In judo, Francisco De La Prida won silver in the 66 kilo category, while Gimena Alfonso won bronze in the 52 kilo category. La Pampa is in fourth place in the judo medal table.

In men’s basketball, La Pampa defeated Santa Cruz 61 to 58 in a close game, practically guaranteeing their place in the semifinals, where they will face Bío Bío this Thursday. In the women’s branch, the team suffered a defeat against Los Lagos by 67 to 31 due to injuries to several players. In swimming, José Gramajo stood out with a gold medal in the 1,500 meter freestyle and a silver medal in the 200 meter medley. Carla Martina Souto took bronze in the 800 meter freestyle.

For its part, the La Pampa men’s soccer team achieved an impressive 6-1 victory over Tierra del Fuego, ensuring its place in the semifinals where it will face Chubut this Thursday. In the women’s branch, the Pampas team qualified thanks to goal difference and will face Araucanía. With these outstanding performances, La Pampa continues in the fight for medals in the Binational Games, consolidating itself as one of the strongest teams in this edition of the tournament.
