Bobsleigh Olympic champion Lisa Buckwitz is supported by an erotic platform for financial reasons. The 29-year-old, who won gold as Mariama Jamanka’s pusher in Pyeongchang in 2018, signed a contract with “OnlyFans”, as “Spiegel” reports. Buckwitz is not allowed to comment on the amount of sponsorship.
“As a bobsleigh pilot, I am responsible for my entire team. “I have to pay a pusher and cover the cost of the materials for my bobsled: That’s why I have to market us as best I can,” said the Berliner. “OnlyFans” approached them because the platform wanted to change its image through athletes.
So far, the portal is known for erotic content. This could also exist at Buckwitz up to a certain limit. “I will definitely not show myself naked,” said the world champion. “In principle, the content is similar to that on Instagram. You can sometimes see me there in a bikini or a sports bra.” But she also wants to give her fans an insight into her everyday life.
Clarification required with the Bundeswehr
The decision was easy for the sports soldier, who was photographed for Playboy in 2022 – for financial reasons. “It’s really hard to even find sponsors who will invest money in my sport or me,” said Buckwitz. A few runners alone – up to eight of which are needed per season – cost 8,000 euros. “If you want to be at the front and deliver top performance, you have to be able to afford it.”
According to Buckwitz, the bobsleigh, which costs up to 100,000 euros, is leased by the athletes. The association covers travel costs because she is on the national team. Buckwitz incurs costs for the material and her pusher Vanessa Mark.
She receives a fixed sum from “OnlyFans” and in return she provides advertising space on the bob and clothing. The cooperation has been agreed with the association. Buckwitz is still in consultation with the Bundeswehr. It is a gray area, but there are “other athletes in the Bundeswehr who are on OnlyFans”.
