The FISU World University Games Winter Torino 2025 Torch Tour arrives in Alessandria and the Cuspo will be at the forefront with the transition between athletes on November 15th. Upon the arrival of the Torch, accompanied by the WUG Torino 2025 staff, the nominated Torch Bearers will continue along the indicated path until the following change point, where the Torch will pass to the next Torch Bearer and continue the path that will take it to the FISU World University Games Winter Torino 2025. The departure will be in viale Teresa Michel at 9.45 am.
The Torch will pass through the hands of prestigious athletes, including Erika ProfumoOlympic clay shooting athlete, who declares: “I have the honor of carrying the Torch to Alessandria. I participated in two Universiades, a university world championship and numerous national university championships, also bringing home several medals. Cuspo involved me in this great opportunity.”
The Torch will also pass through the hands of Patrizia Tramarin and her Musketeers of the Mixed Ability Team Rugby team, in homage to the inclusive sport that the Universiade includes in the next edition, then in those of Sara Furegato – Judo athlete (Bronze in Brescia 2006, Bronze in Jesolo 2007, Bronze in Lignano Sabbiadoro 2009): “Honored to carry this torch which represents an important moment for sporting Piedmont and beyond. Sport helps you grow and improve and, in my specific case, I practiced judo and it gave me the right energy to first pass the exams and then become a lawyer. Today I collaborate with a great judo reality where Olympic athletes and the best people are trained”, and Yahya Fayssal representing basketball: “For me it is a great pleasure to play the role of Teodoforo and I am very happy to have this opportunity, considering that it is an important event also for Cuspo. I will participate with great athletes from various disciplines and this makes me even more grateful and proud.”
At the forefront there will also be the Cuspo president Alice Cometti, captain of the entire great Cus Piemonte Orientale team, who is working with commitment and results on the growth of sport in the university cities, without forgetting those who preceded her on this path: ” Primo Nebiolo, the founder of the University Sports Federation, former Italian University Sports Centre, was President of Cus Torino and the first president of the Federation in Italy. The Torch passes through the most important Cus in Italy and through other important squares: in Alessandria we are ready for this passage!”
The Winter Universiade returns to Turin, a very important venue for university sport, after the first ever edition for Italy in 1959 and that of 1970. The World University Games will be hosted in Turin from 13 to 25 January.
The Heron Tournament, to have fun and reward everyone
The first Airone Tournament for the 2024/25 season will take place next Saturday, from 10 am in Alessandria, reserved for the Rugby Academy categories, from U6 to U12, which will see the participation of five other clubs. The Academy manager, Bruno Nosenzo, explains: “The Tournament is a moment of great participation for all our kids, because it allows all categories to play on the same field. We call it a tournament but it is incorrect, because there is no ranking: for us the fundamental reason is for children to play and have fun playing sports. All companies will be rewarded, without final ranking.”
Third Time is scheduled for all children; the Heron Tournament will be repeated in 2025, and Cuspo managers express the desire for it to become a fixed event to be repeated at least twice a year. The mayor Giorgio Abonante and the municipal councilor for Sport Vittoria Oneto confirmed their presence to welcome all the participants
