Saquon Barkley scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns as the Philadelphia Eagles scored 23 straight second-half points, including 20 in the fourth quarter, to cruise to a 26-18 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday.

This is a sixth victory in a row for the Eagles (8-2), who remain ahead of the Commanders (7-4) in first place in the Eastern division of the National Association.

Barkley rushed for 146 yards on 26 carries, including runs of 23 and 39 yards on consecutive Eagles runs in the fourth quarter. He added 52 yards on two receptions.

Barkley has over 100 rushing yards in four of his last five games.

The Eagles had quite a scare in the second quarter when Hurts’ head hit the ground after a tackle by Frankie Luvu.

Hurts left the field to be examined by a doctor, but he was given the green light to remain in the game. He finished with 221 passing yards.

With the Eagles leading 12-10 in the fourth quarter, the Commanders were in position to take the lead with a field goal, but head coach Dan Quinn decided to trust his quarterback Jayden Daniels on a fourth down.

Daniels was unable to get a first down and Barkley scored his first touchdown less than three minutes later.

Kicker Jake Elliott missed two of his four field goal attempts and one of his three point conversions.

Daniels, who finished the game with 22 of 32 completions for 191 yards and a touchdown pass, was intercepted by Reed Blankenship and 12 seconds later, Barkley ended the hopes of the Commanders (7-4) with his second touchdown, on a 39-yard run.

The Commanders had a chance to take first place in the National Association East Division from the Eagles, but instead lost their second straight game.
