Lindsey Vonn is back on the US ski team. Now it’s clear: Roger Federer may have tipped the scales in the comeback.
The most important thing in brief

Lindsey Vonn is about to make her World Cup comeback.

The fact that the 40-year-old strapped on the speed skis again is also thanks to Federer.

Vonn talks about a formative conversation with the tennis legend.
Lindsey Vonn announced a skiing hammer yesterday: At 40 years old and with an artificial knee, the 82-time World Cup winner is returning! “I hope the ski dress still fits me…” she writes humorously on Instagram. Vonn’s first goal is the speed races in Beaver Creek.
Signs of a comeback had increased in recent weeks. A certain Roger Federer also played a part in making it official.
Lindsey Vonn tells the New York Times about a formative conversation with the tennis legend.
“He said something that somehow stuck with me,” said Vonn, who replaced Shiffrin as the most successful skier. “He said, ‘I squeezed every drop I had out of the lemon. There was nothing left I could give.”
These words triggered something in the two-time world champion and Olympic downhill champion in Vancouver. «I felt like I had done that in my career. I tried as hard as I could.”
But: “I have the feeling that my lemon has more juice now.”
