Mauritius is hosting the first African AirBadminton Championship from November 14 to 17. The competition kicked off on Thursday on the public beach of Mont Choisy. Five nations: South Africa, Uganda, Comoros, Tunisia and host country Mauritius compete in this outdoor event.
With the heavenly landscapes of Mauritius as a backdrop, players and supporters are ready to experience an unforgettable championship. Mauritius is participating in the event with 20 badistas competing in individual and team events. AirBadminton is a new take on the classic sport that brings fun outdoors, transforming parks, beaches and even public spaces near your residential neighborhood into a personal badminton arena, accessible to all.
The AirShuttle is the centerpiece of AirBadminton. The AirShuttle is a shuttlecock designed specifically for playing badminton outdoors. It is heavier than a traditional steering wheel, which makes it more wind resistant. It is therefore suitable for playing badminton in parks, on beaches or other outdoor places.
AirBadminton is available in three formats: single (one player per side), double (two players per side) or triple (three players per side). In triples, a player can only hit the AirShuttle once in a row. This is intended to encourage movement and strategy. The African AirBadminton Championship promises to be a vibrant showcase of this evolving sport and its future in Africa.
