The announcement is promising: “Anyone who gets on the list of winners here can already dream of a really great tennis career“, writes the Lower Rhine Tennis Association (TVN) with a view to the German Junior Tennis Championships.
Boris Becker, Steffi Graf and some other very well-known German tennis players left their mark at this tournament many years ago.
The tournament will be held from next Monday (November 18th, 2024) to Saturday with the age groups U14, U16 and U18 in the tennis performance center in Essen on Hafenstrasse – just a few meters away from the Rot-Weiss Essen football stadium. Both singles and doubles titles will be played.
176 players there
The U14 juniors start on Monday morning. the other age groups start one day later, on Tuesday morning. In the U16 and U18 competitions, everything is at stake right from the first match. It is played in knockout mode. The youngest, on the other hand, play in a so-called Round-Robin-Group system.
A total of 176 young, promising talents from all 18 regional associations across Germany will fight intensively for the titles in the respective age categories. All players had to qualify for the tournament in advance with good performances and results.
NRW is strongly represented
NRW is well represented with its three associations, the Middle Rhine Tennis Association (TVM), the Westphalian Tennis Association (WTV) and the Lower Rhine Tennis Association (TVN).
The TVM is taking part with a total of 14 players, the WTV is sending 13 participants, and eleven participants are qualified for the TVN.
