Turin, Nov 15 (AP) US Open semi-finalist Frances Tiafoe has escaped a ban but has been fined $120,000 for repeatedly abusing the chair umpire after losing a match during last month’s Shanghai Masters.
The ATP said Thursday that its penalties committee had decided to fine Tiafoe $120,000.
Tiafoe abused match official Jimmy Pinorgot after losing to 61st-ranked Roman Saffiullin in the third round in Shanghai. Later he apologized on social media.
