The Spanish Ayumi Leiva was proclaimed this Friday in Pila (Poland) European under-23 judo champion in the category of -52 kilos, after beating Azerbaijani Aydan Valieva in the final.
The 22-year-old athlete born in Cuba and naturalized Spanish is one of the great promises of Spanish judo. She successively beat the Moldovan Sindi Vainstein, the Hungarian Luca Mamira and the Kosovo Erza Muminoviq before quickly beating Valiyeva in the final.

Gemma Gómez won the bronze at -48 kilos by winning the repechage final against the Romanian Laura Bogdan, after losing in the semifinals to the Italian Giulia Ghiglione.
The same metal managed Marta García at -57 kilosin whose semifinals she lost to the Georgian Nino Lodadze but then beat the Finnish Venla Laiho to climb to the third step of the podium.
On the other hand, Luis Barroso could not achieve the same goal at -60 kilos when he lost in his semifinal against the Azerbaijani Huseyn Allahryarov, the eventual champion, and in the play-off final against the Serbian Marko Jorgic.
