Hero of Wednesday evening with a 50-point performance, Victor Wembanyama quickly turned to the shock that awaits him against the Lakers. A poster on which he poured his heart out and which he considers special for the Spurs.
In the absence of Gregg Popovich, whose speeches tend to capture attention by NBAit is his words that are most talked about in the Spurs environment. Victor Wembanyama had a lot to say this Wednesday, after his match against the Wizards. Match that he concluded with 50 points scored… without dwelling too much on this record total for him.

Author of his best career performance in terms of scoring, Wembanyama obviously ignited the audience at the Frost Bank Center in this way. He was therefore logically invited to speak to him before joining the locker room. And in addition to the happiness he felt in this beautiful atmosphere, the young French interior has already made an appointment with Texan fans in view of a big meeting that awaits him:
Victor Wembanyama: I’m really pleased to have played in front of such a loud crowd tonight. And I know that you will also support us in the next game here, against the Lakers, for the (In-Season) Tournament. Go Spurs go!
Clearly, Victor is not losing his bearings.

Indeed, instead of enjoying the fantastic evening he had just experienced, the French international immediately turned to the one which will see him challenge the Lakers on Friday. An impatience that he also shared at a press conference:
Victor Wembanyama: I haven’t even had time to do my treatments yet because right after the match I had to do a weight training session.
But I’m going to take the time to savor, that’s for sure! I like to celebrate small victories as well as big ones for a short while. But tomorrow, we will already be focused on the match against the Lakers.
In view of such words, it would seem that Wemby is firmly awaiting this poster which will notably put him in the grip of LeBron James. He nevertheless affirms that this is more due to the unique climate of the NBA Cup, which clearly seems to be one of his objectives this season:
Victor Wembanyama: I said that more in relation to the fact that it is an (In-Season) Tournament match and so that there is a different atmosphere on this occasion. We cannot afford to take any match lightly, so we must draw on every source of motivation.
Barely having completed his 50-point card, Victor Wembanyama was impatient to play in the NBA Cup match which will see him face the Lakers on Friday. Suffice to say that his preparation is not likely to be spoiled by an excessive celebration of this recital.
