The Galarreta ball fields enjoyed a good lift. The second round has begun and finally the Couples Championship seems to gain the tone and balance that it had lacked in the first. Ansa II and Juanenea beat Urriza and Larrañaga 2-1 in a close tiebreaker that fell to their side 8-7. Urriza’s early rebound attempt ended with a hit on the wrist. In that same goal, Ansa interfered. A little bit of everything.
Urriza and Larrañaga took the lead 0-1 at 14-15 in the first set, responded by Ansa and Juanenea with a 15-12 in the second that left everything up in the air. The bottom players put the frills aside, putting the ball on the green and choosing speed as the path to victory.
The forwards carried out an intense give and take to which the two defenders joined. There was not a single moment of respite.
Ansa II and Juanenea see the remainder of the first phase with less pessimism after adding three points and erasing the negative from their locker. Urriza and Larrañaga have nine, the same as the leaders, Segurola and Barrenetxea IV, for the point that comes from winning a set.
