In a letter dated November 12, the participants of the Raid des Alizés learned of the cancellation of this year’s edition.
We come back to you with the regret to announce the postponement of the 9th edition of the Raid des Alizés – Martinique, which was scheduled from November 27 to December 2, 2024, and for which you are registered.
Those responsible for the competition put before the social situation in Martinique to justify the postponement of this edition:
You, like us, have been able to follow the evolution of the situation in Martinique for more than 2 months now. Unfortunately, the current uncertainty does not allow us to bring together the necessary conditions to ensure optimal organization of the event.
The event has therefore been postponed from November 25 to 30, 2025.
“Of course we are disappointed”
Lisa, Raid participantmakes this decision philosophically:
The reasons given by the organization for the Alizés dream are of course the current situation in Martinique. All security conditions were not met for this edition. Of course we are disappointed. We trained, we trained hard, we were ready physically, mentally, but it’s only been postponed. For us who are in Martinique, it is the easiest for us. We are thinking more of the teams that come from France and even Canada, who incur personal expenses and for whom it may be a little more difficult to represent themselves next year. But we, in any case, will be there and we are more motivated than ever. The Martinique Women’s Union that we represent will continue to follow us and support us. We still have one year to improve and do our best
The Raid des Alizés brings together more than 200 participants who complete sporting events as a team. The event combines sport with a charitable dimension since the participants also work to raise funds for associations.
