The NBA is seriously considering a new format for the All Star Game… with 4 teams

The NBA has been working in recent weeks to decide what the format of the match will be.All Star Game in San Francisconext February. As is known, the All Star Game is an event that has lost much appeal in recent years, above all due to the lack of competitiveness on the field. Last year the two teams, then divided into East and West, set the points record for the Stars game: the match ended 211-186.

This year the League would like to propose something new and, as reported by Shams Charania, would be seriously considering the introduction of a brand new format. In this hypothesis, the All Star Game would no longer be a dry match but would become a 4-team tournament, each made up of 8 players. However, only 3 of them would be made up of All Stars (which would therefore always remain 24, 12 per Conference), the fourth would be the winning team of the Rising Stars. In this way, the NBA hopes to be able to give greater prominence to the Rising Stars, the Friday game featuring rookies and sophomores.

The 4-team tournament would be direct elimination, with semi-finals and the final.

But this may not be the only news: Steph Curryparticularly active as a consultant in organizing the weekend, will return with a new challenge with Sabrina Ionescu in 3-point shooting. Last year, the match between the superstars of the Golden State Warriors and the New York Liberty was perhaps the highlight of the entire All Star Weekend. It will be repeated in 2025, with the possibility of extending the challenge to Klay Thompson and Caitlin Clark as well.
