The last and most emotional day of the judo discipline in the ‘Araucanía Games’ featured the Fuegian athletes of the women’s team who won a valuable gold medal this Friday.
In the team event (five representatives compete in order by weight) those led by Maximiliano Cavia defeated Río Negro in the final.
The team made up of Ludmila and Anyelina González, Lara Segovia, Morena Flores, Martina Dellazuana and Nahir Insaurralde, closed their participation in the tournament with great joy despite not achieving the expected medals in the individual combats.
On the other hand, on the athletics track, the street pedestrian tests were carried out with the participation of Santiago Aramayo, who obtained a valuable eighth place and Facundo Santucho who finished in fifteenth position, thus closing the athletics performance.
In addition, the day was conducive to the formal presentation of the gold medal won this Thursday by Renata Godoy, who had won the javelin throwing event.
Meanwhile, the women’s volleyball team had the best performance in these Araucanía Games “Aysén 2024”. This Friday, on the last day of competition, those led by Hernán Cepeda and Rodrigo Gómez won 3 sets to 0 and thus achieved fifth place in the final classification.
This Friday the competition culminated with the street circuit tests at the intersections of the waterfront of the city of Punta Arenas. The tests were individual and team, 60 km for the men and 30 km for the women.
It is worth highlighting the effort of the rider Yazmin Calvismonti who completed the stretch of laps adding times to her performance. On the men’s side, Lucas Leppio, Nico Fernández, Mariano Medina and Valentino Garcia were unable to complete the laps due to accidents in the peloton, except for Lucas Torres who had a great participation.
Women’s soccer achieved eighth place. On this Friday morning, the last match of the Fuegian representatives was played at the Confederación Deportiva de Magallanes Stadium in the city of Punta Arenas.
It was in the match with the Santa Cruz team, who took the victory by 8 to 0. In this way, the sporting activity for Tierra del Fuego culminates, placing itself in eighth place in the general table.
In the men’s branch, the soccer team reached ninth place. The Fuegian team beat the Río Negro team 2 to 1 in a difficult match at the 18 de Septiembre stadium in the city of Punta Arenas. The goals were scored by Mirko Bueno and Tobías Petrone to seal ninth place overall, repeating what was done in the last edition of Araucanía 2023.
Finally, in other results of teams that sought to position themselves in the final hours, the men’s basketball team finished in eighth place after a hard setback with the Chubut representative team.
After five days of intense sporting activity, the Tierra del Fuego delegation begins its return home.
The buses will leave early this Saturday with the aim of overcoming the immigration and customs procedures at the border as quickly as possible and then face the return through Argentine lands with a little more peace of mind. It is estimated that the delegation of more than 200 people will arrive in the province next Sunday around late afternoon.
