With the aim of continuing to promote sports tourism and increasing economic benefits among service providers, the Directorates of Tourism and Physical Culture invite the Grandmaster of Baseball 60 Years and Over tournament, which will take place from 16 to 23 November in Xalapa.
The director of Physical Culture, Bertoldo Reyes Campuzano, commented that this national championship is organized by the Mexican Baseball Federation (Femebe) and the Veracruz State Baseball Association.
He added that the participation of teams from 14 states such as Nuevo León, Sonora, Sinaloa, Aguascalientes, Tamaulipas, Yucatán and Tabasco is expected, who will play in Parque Colón, the sports field of the “Enrique C. Rébsamen” Normal School in Veracruzana. and in the congregation of El Castillo.
The director of Tourism, Josué Vásquez González, explained that Xalapa has an important tourist and sporting vocation, which allows us to develop a strategy to attract national and international competitions that promote the sport and attractions that the city has.

“Baseball is a discipline with great attachment and fans in Xalapa, we also believe that it is the means by which more tourists can come to the state capital. “Xalapa is the capital of sports and tourism,” he added.
He underlined that during the seven days of the tournament, 100 people are expected to participate and an economic benefit of 2 million pesos is expected, for the benefit of service providers.
The inauguration will take place on Sunday 17 November at 5pm at Colón Stadium, where five Veracruz players will be honored for their baseball careers.
The president of the State Baseball Association, Emilio Morales Gómez, attended; the president of the Children’s and Youth League of Xalapa, Vicente Juárez Delgado, and the president of the 60+ “Fill Durán” Veterans League, Godofredo Calles León.
