The governor of the province, Carlos Sadir, received former judoka Paula Pareto in the “White Room” of the Government House. The Olympic medalist in Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016, arrived in our province as a guest at the Closing National Judo Championship that will last until tomorrow.
The provincial leader received the multi-medal winner, among others, of the gold and bronze medals in the Olympic Games, and former world champion, who participates, as a guest, in the competition that closes the calendar of this discipline in the country and that takes place at the “Basketball Federation” stadium, an event that brings together more than 1,200 judokas from the 25 federations throughout the country.
Sadir highlighted the figure of Paula “Peque” Pareto as an “inspiration for children and young people who practice sports”, and presented her with a plaque commemorating her great sporting career, in addition to artisan products made in the province.
Meanwhile, the former judoka expressed that “on behalf of Argentine judo, we are grateful for the proposal that Jujuy presented to host the competition.”
Likewise, he highlighted the quality of the stadium facilities, noting that “the judokas are very happy.”
“The judo family is grateful that they opened the doors to us in the best way,” stressed the “Peque” during the protocol visit to Governor Carlos Sadir.
Pareto was accompanied by the president of the Argentine Judo Confederation, Oscar Cassinerio, who thanked Governor Sadir for “the province holding a national championship.” “Jujuy offered and here we are fulfilling a dream,” he remarked.
Present at the meeting held in the White Room of the Government House were the Minister of Government, Justice, Human Rights and Labor, Normando Álvarez García; the Secretary of Sports of Jujuy, Luis Calvetti and the vice president of the Argentine Judo Confederation.
The tournament is one of the most important that the Argentine Judo Confederation has, since everyone must attend these competitions that grant points for the national ranking, both those who are not part of the “albiceleste” team as well as those who are already members of the team that represents us in international competitions.
Let us remember that the round will last until tomorrow, access to the España Avenue stage is free, so those interested in seeing great judo competitors in action will be able to come along throughout the day.
At the end of each category, the prizes are awarded.
