ASSOCIATION
Our club has existed since 1952. At that time we were founded as the Eumig Judo Sports Club. Later, after Eumig was dissolved, Franz Eibler led the club for many years under the name 1. Wr. Neudorf Judo Club. In 1997, our highly respected chairman and trainer Mr. Eibler took his well-deserved retirement from judo and passed the reins on to the next generation. Matthias Karnik took over the management of the club and led the unknown small club into a respected competitive club in just two years. Name and image changes were the forerunners of the club’s success, which, it looks like, cannot be stopped. Under the name “Judoteam SHIAI-DO Vienna”, the club established itself through numerous medals at Austrian championships and international tournaments. In 2003 the “Judo team SHIAI-DO UNION Thermenregion” was founded.
Judo team SHIAI-DO UNION Thermenregion is a judo club that is a member of the Austrian Judo Association and belongs to the Lower Austrian Judo State Association and the Sport UNION NÖ.
In Japanese, “shiai” means “competition” and “do” means “the way”. “SHIAI-DO” can therefore be translated as “The Way of Competition”.
