Respectful successes in Dublin | German Badminton Association

At the AIG VICTOR Irish Open 2024 (International Challenge), the DBV athletes reached the semi-finals once and the quarter-finals three times.

The mixed Jones Jansen/Thuc Phuong Nguyen reached the final four of the $15,000 tournament. On the way there, the DBV mixed team prevailed against, among others, Kenneth Neumann/Linda Efler in the round of 16. The semi-final was against Callum Hemming/Estelle Van Leeuwen [3] Ending. Jansen/Nguyen lost to the eventual winners from England 14-21, 19-21.

Malik Bourakkadi/Leona Michalski [4] reached the quarterfinals in the mixed doubles after two wins.

In the women’s singles, Miranda Wilson reached the quarterfinals. She had to meet Huang Yu-Hsun [7] from Taiwan with 7-21, 16-21. Malik Bourakkadi/Kenneth Neumann also made it to the quarterfinals in the men’s doubles. The young DBV pairing lost to the number one seeded pairing of Christopher Grimley/Matthew Grimley (Scotland) 17-21, 10-21.

“Intensive days in Dublin are the hallmarks of tournaments of this kind. Challenges in Europe mean a lot of competitive toughness that needs to be demonstrated. Jones and Thuc achieved a very good victory in the quarter-finals against the finalists of the HYLO Open. We are currently seeing a lot of development, and some things are reflected also reflected in the results, some things are not yet.
